1. Am I going to suffer during my withdrawals? And will the withdrawals be severe?
The fact of the matter is that there is no easy road in coming off of drugs or alcohol. The crucial point is this: How do we use science, coupled with a caring and knowledgeable staff, to ease as much as humanly possible the pain of coming off drugs?
To understand this situation better, it is important to take into account the following facts:
A.) Fact: Drugs have been suppressing pain. Now those drugs are being lessened and that pain is no longer being suppressed by them. Our clients’ systematic reduction of drugs is programmed by a competent Medical Doctor, as well as overseen by Pur Detox’s highly skilled and caring Detox & Withdrawal Specialists. Our clients are placed in the most professional and caring environments to successfully deal with this challenge.
B.) Fact: Coming off of drugs increases awareness and natural sensitivity. As the person is becoming drug free, they are now increasing their awareness of his or her surroundings and their personal physical condition. Thus they “feel more alive again,” which can include feeling pain, as well as an increase in confidence, pleasure and well-being. Discomfort is not necessarily a negative symptom. Many times it shows that progress is being made.
C.) Fact: During detox, the body is going through a biophysical recovery. The growth of new, healthy tissue can cause some discomfort in the beginning stages of detox. When one is on a diet and eating healthier, it can be tough at first. Or when one starts working out at the gym, one’s muscles are a bit sore for a short while. Minor discomfort is part of the healing process.
Anyone that promises “pain-free detox” is not being completely honest about the reality of what occurs in any detox program. It is like telling a young child that when they live their life that nothing bad will ever happen to them. At Pur Detox, we would rather be upfront and truthful with you versus you eventually finding out anyway and then feeling betrayed. It is important we deal in truth when addressing such an important issue as chemical addiction and detox.
Let’s be real, there is discomfort to address. But the pain of staying addicted and losing yourself or a loved one to addiction, and even possibly to premature death, is much, much worse. In the long run, being drug free is a future that will bring about more pleasure and happiness than any discomfort that one will ever go through to get to that desirable goal.

2. How exactly do you get people through the withdrawals? Do you use medications or other methods?
Being a facility that routinely and successfully addresses medical detox issues, the use of medications is a common option at Pur Detox. This is either performed as a systematic reduction of the current drug that the person is currently addicted to, or in the use of medically prescribed sedatives to help a person stay as rested and as calm as possible while coming off much more harmful, addictive substances. Again, this is determined only at the discretion and determination of a competent Medical Doctor.
One of the types of therapy that our clients receive from an approved medical practitioner is IV (intravenous) therapy. This type of medically supervised therapy is vital to determining what to do with the client, as their blood samplings indicate what nutritional deprivation may have occurred over the course of using life-damaging substances. Moreover, IV therapy may be used to restore depleted nutrients in the human body.
A key factor to the success of the systematic reduction of drugs and their symptomatic effects is the use of holistic means, such as vitamins, minerals, purified water, rest, exercise, one-on-one consultations and highly nutritious meals which we provide at our facility.
A combination of medically supervised reduction, IV therapy and proper use of nutrition are all vital methods that Pur Detox staff utilize to bring about the most rapid means to effectively ease and curb the stress and pain of withdrawal symptoms.

3. There are so many drug detox facilities out there. What makes Pur Detox so unique?
While there are many facilities and programs throughout our country trying to assist those afflicted with drug and alcohol addiction; having the actual means to bring about a positive, lifelong result is an important issue to confront.
Although being under the care of those who are completely dedicated to servicing clients with their drug problems is crucial to rehabilitation, one must implement an effective program based on science and experience for success to occur. What Pur Detox delivers is an Integrative Medical program, which is then followed by a highly effective sauna detox program.
The two factors are not just a slight difference, but the critical factors that bring about a much higher rate of success. Integrative Medicine is a progressive approach, using all methodologies and wellness techniques to bring about substantial and lasting positive change.
Secondly, the sauna program at Pur Detox is an indispensible factor in breaking the severe grip that drugs have over our minds, our body and our decision-making abilities in envisioning happiness. Innovative science, a synergy of medicine and holistic methods, and all delivered by caring Withdrawal Specialists, sets apart Pur Detox into a higher echelon of drug detox and rehabilitation facilities. Discover the difference why Pur Detox consistently brings about rapid results for a drug-free life.

4. Does Pur Detox take insurance?
With insurance money come insurance regulations and bureaucratic restrictions. Insurance companies have restrictive rules that would hinder us in delivering our highly effective and progressive detox program. Insurance companies do not make decisions at the speed of progressive science, nor is their primary concern for the individual.
While Pur Detox is fully licensed with the California State Board of Alcohol & Drug Programs, we do not take insurance because of that reason.
While some insurance companies struggle with government oversight and control, newer and more restrictive rules and endless mounds of paperwork, we have to get on with our important work. Pur Detox simply has established the firm policy to not spend our time entangled in their potential messes. Pur Detox does best when we fully dedicate our time, energies and our staff to helping the client.
Pur Detox has been successful in helping some individuals work with their insurance companies to have them directly reimbursed. There is no guarantee of this occurring for you. But we will do all that we can, within the laws of the land, to assist you in seeking compensation from your insurance provider. Speak with a Pur Detox Admissions Director on how to best address and deal with your insurance provider.

5. How many clients do you service? Does Pur Detox provide personal, one-on-one service?
Pur Detox only services six clients per facility. Our service is highly personalized and friendly. Twenty-four hours a day, there is no less than one staff at the facility for every two clients going through their detox program. Clients get to know their Withdrawal Specialist on a first name basis. Each one of Pur Detox’s Withdrawal Specialists is a highly compassionate individual dedicated to the purpose of creating happier, drug-free individuals. Treating those on drugs is a difficult task, but nonetheless it is a rewarding purpose and career for us at Pur Detox. You will find no finer staff than those at Pur Detox.

7. Does Pur Detox have doctors or nurses on staff?
No, we do not have doctors or nurses on staff at Pur Detox. This is not necessary with the arrangement we have with our consulting doctor, Dr. Allan Sosin, M.D., founder of the world-renowned Institute for Progressive Medicine.
Dr. Allan Sosin acts solely as our Medical Consultant, and is not in any way a part of our staff, nor is there any corporate affiliation between Pur Detox and the Institute for Progressive Medicine.
Our reasoning is clearly understandable and purposely designed that way. Pur Detox has established a perfect scenario establishing no conflict of interest, with an ideal system of checks and balances built into our relationship. In other words, neither organization has any financial benefit in dictating to the other party how to operate. Many detox facilities are located in hospitals, which can encourage detox staff to feel the pressure to request unnecessary medical treatments and/or medication protocols, purely for financial purposes.
When our clients need competent medical help, our clients can seek any help they deem necessary. But the executives at Pur Detox found the Dr. Sosin and his team at the Institute for Progressive Medicine have always performed professionally and competently for all our clients.

8. Where is Pur Detox located?
We are extremely fortunate that Pur Detox’s premier facilities are located in world-famous Orange County, California. It is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. The county has great hotels, unique shops and restaurants, world-famous art galleries and art festivals. Many movies and TV shows have been filmed there.

9. Is the facility at Pur Detox co-ed?
While our overall facility quite often services men and women at the same time, each and every room is private and is provided with their own locks. Fraternization amongst clients with other clients, or clients with staff, is highly forbidden and is against our strict policy on this sensitive, yet important manner.
While our clients are going through a detox program, we take extensive care of our clients to ensure that they are not involving themselves in potentially emotional upsets or involvements. By experience, people undergoing detox need personal support from those that are there to solely care for them as a person, and not for other reasons.
Of course, if a client is married or involved in a non-destructive relationship we permit them to continue communication and those visitors are welcome. We encourage positive communication from friends and family members as a vital part of the healing process.

10. Are clients allowed to have cell-phones, computers and have visitors?
Yes. However, due to individual cases this may vary depending on the client’s well-being. Pur Detox reserves the right to determine what access each client may have, based solely on their safety and emotional well-being.
There are times when a client has a potentially explosive or negative reaction to a certain relationship. Realize that a person detoxing from the influence of drugs or alcohol can become confused, thus incorrectly believing that a loving family member or supportive friend is an enemy.
There are those rare instances where a drug addict can be followed by their dealer or an associate who has some personal benefit in keeping their victim addicted to drugs. This can be for financial purposes or just to keep the person dominated and under their thumb for ulterior motives. In such cases, we demand that our clients suspend such relations until the full detox program is complete. Again, this is done to ensure that the client is under no stress and can detox in a safe and undisturbed environment.
The staff at Pur Detox understands the complex issues concerning the mental and emotional state of those going through withdrawals and detox. It is a stressful time, but one that results in a greater sense of happiness and physical health and well-being.
